A Permanent Home for Unadoptable Kitties
Kitties on parade in the flower garden as the flowers begin to bloom. Tall wildflowers dominate the garden, providing lots of cool shaded hidey holes for the kitties.. Bees and butterflies provide interest as well.
Our sanctuary is home to mostly carts, but also some goats. Here Honey the goat and Walker the cat share one of the many cat perches we have throughout the site.
In the sun garden section of the sanctuary compound, kitties love it when we spread fresh straw. They snuggle out little pockets and settle in for long naps in the sun. We keep lots of straw on hand so we can make "fresh straw day" a regular event.
In our Kitty City section, kitties love to perch on top of the roofs. The houses in Kitty City were built by high school students using repurposed materials. The kitties love the houses, which are heated during the winter.
Here is Pete, one of our tripod kitties, napping in the middle of the yard. Most kitties seek covered or hidden spots to nap. Not Pete. Pete is a total original.
Our new mound garden, featuring an in-ground kitty tunnel, is under construction. The final "hugelkultur" mound will feature native grasses, trees, and flowers along with multiple kitty perches and hides.
Rocky is an amazing kitty! Amazing because both of his back legs are crippled and deformed, pointing backward and sideways instead of forward. But he does not let anything slow him down. He runs lightning fast and jumps on top of structures just like any other cat. Plus he is a real sweetheart who LOVES to be cuddled and make friends with everybody. Rocky came to us from a relocating rescuer who wanted a special forever home for him. We love Rocky and are glad to be his loving family.
Kitties love to hang out at the watering hole.
